Staying Warm on Your Winter Camping Trip

If you like to get away from it all and spend time immersed in nature, then camping is a great way to do this. However, if you are planning on going camping over the winter months, it is crucial to be prepared for the worst of the weather and make sure that you have all the things that you need to be safe and stay warm and dry on your trip.

Clothing is an obvious one, and when you are camping in the winter, you will need good quality outdoor gear that is suitable for the season. Padded coats that help you to stay warm, good quality waterproofs and clothing that is made from natural materials like wool that are both breathable and insulating like this Irish fisherman sweater

Underwear and footwear are also important. Make sure that you have some thermal underwear both for day and night. For footwear, good waterproof boots are an essential item in the winter, as are plenty of pairs of socks to help you to keep your feet warm, as you may want to wear two or three pairs when it is very cold outside.

Sleeping at night is also something to think about, as temperatures can get their lowest at this time of the day. Make sure that you have a good quality sleeping bag to help you to stay warm whilst you are asleep, as your body is likely to be colder at this time of the day.
