Underwear and footwear are also important. Make sure that you have some thermal underwear both for day and night. For footwear, good waterproof boots are an essential item in the winter, as are plenty of pairs of socks to help you to keep your feet warm, as you may want to wear two or three pairs when it is very cold outside.

Sleeping at night is also something to think about, as temperatures can get their lowest at this time of the day. Make sure that you have a good quality sleeping bag to help you to stay warm whilst you are asleep, as your body is likely to be colder at this time of the day.
