How Sports Tour Specialists Choose Training Facilities

Finding a suitable training ground abroad for your sporting needs takes more than a simple search on the Internet.

Pitch Surface and Dimensions

Check that the dimensions of the pitch are suitable for your sport and that the surface is good quality (whether grass or artificial). Uneven or waterlogged surfaces can lead to injury and be problematic for training sessions.

Changing and Medical Facilities

Changing rooms should be clean, spacious enough for the entire team plus physio staff, and have access to a treatment room or a flat, private area for work to be done on players with minor injuries. We check out changing rooms personally for our recommended venues.

Equipment on Site

Do they have posts, balls, cones, etc. for hire, or does the venue be equipped with all specialist sports training equipment? While it’s good practice to bring your own sports training equipment, having a well-equipped training venue can save so much luggage space!

Exclusive Use and Scheduling

Ask if you can book shared facilities exclusively for your training sessions. Try to get a schedule of use confirmed in writing before you travel.

Distance from Accommodation

The distance from your players’ accommodation to the venue for their training sessions is also important – try to select a venue that is within 20 miles of their evening fixtures and is within 20 minutes’ travel time.

By confirming these details well in advance, you can be sure that your party arrives at the destination ready to go and able to get straight into training without any problems.
